T LEVEL OUTLINE CONTENT - CHANGES

Equine Care and Management Occupational Specialism

• Content undertaken by all students:
  • PO1 Optimise the physical and psychological well-being of horses

  • PO2 Prepare horses for transportation

  • PO3 Prepare horses for different types of work and competition

Students choose either riding or non-riding option and complete 2 further PO's

• Non riding:

  • PO4 Prepare a horse for breeding

  • PO5 Support horses’ recovery and rehabilitation

• Riding: 
  

  • PO6 Develop a horse's ridden performance over the flat

  • PO7 Develop a horse's ridden performance over poles

Animal Care and Science Occupational Specialism

Following a recent consultation on the draft outline content, IfATE will be progressing development of a new T Level Occupational Specialism for Animal Care and Science. The aim of this OS is to provide students with employment or entry into higher education. This OS will be an option within the Animal Care and Management T Level and sit alongside the Animal Care and Management specialism. Development of the Equine Care and Management Occupational Specialism will remain paused whilst the aligned standards are being revised. This work is expected to conclude in Summer 2023.
